Alonso remains confident despite doubts

Fernando Alonso would like to reassure about the potential of the F2012 before the start of the final winter tests in Barcelona. If Felipe Massa indicated last week that the latest tests had allowed the Scuderia to make good progress in the development of the new car, doubt remains about the capacity of Maranello to improve its performance. Fernando Alonso wants to calm things down by emphasizing that the moment is too early to speculate on the level of the F2012.

“There is a trend in the press which suggests that Ferrari is having a bad start to the season or that the single-seater would be bad”, comments the double world champion. “But we always remained calm and worked steadily. The complexity of the car makes everything take a bit longer. We still have plenty of things to see after these two test sessions. I can't say if we are first, second or ninth. We are in a situation where it is very difficult to know the level of each team, this is only speculation. We can suppose that Red Bull will not be out in Q2 in Australia after dominating the last two seasons. McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari should not be far from victory because they are superb teams. »
