Alonso remains optimistic about his chances of winning

La Team experienced grueling qualifying at the Spanish Grand Prix. If the F138s should be competitive tomorrow, the pace of the Italian single-seaters remains below the top teams. Behind the Mercedes de Nico Rosberg et Lewis Hamilton, Red Bull de Sebastian Vettel and the Lotus of Kimi Räikkönen, Fernando Alonso will do his best to improve on his fifth place on the grid. His teammate Felipe Massa was to start alongside him but the Asturian will ultimately start on the same line as Romain Grosjean following the penalty inflicted on the Sao Paulista.

The strategy will then play its role because tire degradation will still be very high. I feel confident, the car was good today. Sunday being generally our best day, I don't see why we wouldn't be on the podium tomorrow. But we want to achieve more than a podium…”
