Alonso: “A great feeling”

Victim of a concussion during his accident on February 22 during winter testing at Barcelona in Catalonia, Fernando Alonso had been forced to withdraw from the opening event in Australia. The Spaniard finally debuted this Friday at Sepang, accumulating 45 laps behind the wheel of the McLaren powered by the Honda turbo/hybrid V6.

« It's a great feeling to get back in the car, specifies the double world champion. I really enjoyed driving today. I may not still be 100% after two weeks on the couch and out of the car. It was like a testing day today. I had a solid day in Barcelona when I covered 63 laps, and I completed 45 this Friday. In addition, we drove without problems, so that is also an important step forward. »

Despite some brake problems, the former driver Ferrari also praised the progress made by the Woking team. “We are improving the aero package, but also we are understanding the Power Unit better and better. We learn at every turn. »
