AlphaTauri confirms Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda for 2022

Announcement season is open in Formula 1. After the retirement of Kimi Räkkönen and his replacement by Valtteri Bottas in Alfa Romeo, Team Alpha Tauri has confirmed its drivers for 2022. Unsurprisingly with the extension of Sergio Pérez at Red Bull for one more season, Pierre Gasly will always be the leader of the Italian team. The Frenchman, recent 4th in the Dutch Grand Prix, will once again be supported by Yuki tsunoda next season.

“I am very happy to continue with Scuderia AlphaTauri for another season in Formula 1, especially after seeing the progress we have made as a team since my arrival in 2017. Considering the performances we have shown so far present this season, I think there are big things to achieve for the rest of this season and for next year, especially with the upcoming changes to the championship in 2022. I am very excited to see what we can achieve in the new era of F1 and to continue to work with the team as best I can to move us forward in the constructors' standings. This year has been very successful so far and I really think we can work well together to do even better in 2022.”, reacted the Frenchman, who celebrated this Monday the first anniversary of his victory at the Italian Grand Prix.

Yuki Tsunoda will continue a second season in Formula 1 after his debut in the discipline this year: “ I'm really excited to stay with Scuderia AlphaTauri for a second season. This is an incredible opportunity and I am very grateful to the team and Dr Marko for allowing me to continue to develop my experience in Formula 1. I have a very good relationship with Pierre, I have already learned a lot from him this year and his experience has helped me continue to develop my own skills, so it's great to continue my F1 journey with him. Having recently moved to Faenza (where the stable is located. Ed.), I feel very good within the team and I am looking forward to the coming season. »
