Alpine F1 Team went to pick up five points at the Circuit de Barcelona with the eighth position ofEsteban Ocon and the tenth of Pierre Gasly at the end of the Spanish Grand Prix. During an incident-free race, the two drivers adopted a conservative and highly anticipated two-stop strategy, using from the softest to the hardest the three tire compounds made available to them by Pirelli. A wise and careful race, without any brilliance, but with two Top 10 finishes.

However, we are a long way from the 21 points collected in Monaco which caused a joyful, even excessive, euphoria in the French clan. The Blues' total rises to 40 units, placing them comfortably in 5th place, and this result at least has the merit of erasing the painful memory of the zero points from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The fact remains that in front of it playing in another league with Ferrari away from the viewfinder with 100 points when Red Bull There are already 287. No more apothecary accounts, we will have to do better to get out of the soft underbelly of the ranking.

Esteban Ocon — Start: 6th / Finish: 8th “We leave Barcelona with another double points entry, so I think we can be satisfied with our work this weekend. We finished eighth and I don't think we could have done much more today, with our race pace perhaps slightly behind the competitors in front of us. We'll analyze this to see how we can improve, but it was a good Saturday and a decent Sunday overall. We can be proud of the last two weeks, but we know there is still work to do to continue moving in the right direction. »

Pierre Gasly — Start: 10th / Finish: 10th “It’s a new double entry into the points for Alpine, but we always aim for more. For my part, it was even more frustrating after such a good qualifying yesterday and our race pace could allow us to fight for the top six today. Unfortunately, the penalties and the start greatly impacted my race and we will collectively study everything we can improve in the future. The car is performing well and we must strive to do more. I'm looking forward to having a little rest before challenging Canada in two weeks."

Otmar Szafnauer, team principal Alpine F1 “It was a difficult race with varied strategies and programs. Esteban did a good job of being in the top six, which he ultimately just missed. There are certainly some aspects of his race to improve for the future. Pierre had already lost six places due to the grid penalty after his superb qualifying in fourth place yesterday. He conceded four more positions on the first lap by being stuck on the wrong side in the opening turns. He did an excellent job to regain his possession and score a point. Of course, we are aiming for more than these small points – like last week in Monaco – but the performance of the car is solid and we are fighting against those in front of us. We need to make progress on some things and iron out small details, but we look forward to being in Canada later this month. We are ready to continue fighting for these higher positions. »

Alpine zero points in Miami? We must not follow the same F1 season!

Ah, the syntax; Ferrari with 100 points to 60 points Alpine; This is how it should be written! Alpine 8th for best place in a GP? This is at the moment, given the hierarchy, the best they can do, and again, if at Aston there were 2 cars at the level it would push them back to 9th place!
