Will the Andretti team finally arrive in Formula 1 ? This almost took place in 2021 when the family group did not miss the takeover of Sauber Motorsport AG and Sauber Engineering – united under the supervision of Islero Investments – and therefore the F1 team today. now named Alfa Romeo Racing. The affair finally collapsed at the dawn of the United States Grand Prix last October. and the American group had temporarily put aside its F1 desires.

A few months after this setback, the Andretti group returned to the charge and it is via its own team that it is targeting F1 in 2024! “ Michael has submitted an application to the FIA to join the grid in 2024, writes Mario Andretti, father of Michael, on Twitter. His project, Andretti Global, has the resources and fulfills all the necessary obligations. He is waiting for the response from the FIA."

Failed last October when it was close to acquiring Sauber Motorsport AG and Sauber Engineering, the Andretti group this time seems determined to be part of the paddock in 3 years. This arrival will, however, have a significant cost since the American structure will have to pay an anti-dilution clause of 200 million dollars (approximately 172 million euros) which any new team in the field must pay to the 10 current teams according to an equitable distribution. It now remains to be seen which engine manufacturer the consortium led by the son of the 1978 world champion would enter the scene. Recent rumors indicate an arrival of Porsche or even Audi in the coming years. There is no doubt that Michael Andretti would study this option if the project is validated by the FIA.

What about the pilots? Michael Andretti plans to arrive with his armada ofIndyCar in which the French is located Romain Grosjean ? Last October when the takeover of Alfa Romeo Racing was a reality, the name of Colton Herta was widely cited to support Valtteri Bottas in 2022. Will the Californian be part of the adventure in 2024? So many questions whose answers should come as the Andretti Global project progresses.

While waiting for the possible arrival of Andretti through his son Michael, the Americanization of F1 is confirmed. After Haas in 2016, the acquisition of Williams by the private group Dorilton Capital in 2020, the extension of the United States Grand Prix in Austin until 2026, the presence of a 2nd GP in Miami, and possibly a 3rd in the coming years, it is a new group from Uncle Sam's country which could confirm the trend of a Formula 1 USA version.
