Clearly, this test planned in Hungary and supposed to help Alpine to find a replacement Fernando Alonso is becoming a daily saga! While it was understood that Nyck De Vries, author of an absolutely remarkable 9th place with Williams last weekend at Monza for his first Grand Prix, and that Jack Doohan, member of the academy Alpine, would be on track in Hungary to be tested in theAlpine of 2021, AUTOhebdo learned that the American Colton Herta and the Italian Antonio Giovinazzi would also be there, and that the test would take place, again according to our information, on September 21 and 22 at the Hungaroring.

Like evoked this Wednesday on AUTOhebdo.fr, if Herta is not on the list of candidates, the Californian is nevertheless one of the major players in the saga triggered by the departure of Fernando Alonso for Aston Martin and the refusal toOscar piastri to be promoted to Alpine. Indeed, Herta is emphatically announced on the side ofAlpha Tauri as part of a deal that would see him replace Pierre Gasly, thatAlpine wants to leave before the end of his contract Red Bull, scheduled for 2023. By offering him a trial run, the Blues would allow the Austrian clan to best evaluate him with a view to promotion F1, which also remains conditional on the American obtaining the superlicense.

Finally the surprise is the presence of Antonio Giovinazzi, as AUTOhebdo learned. The Italian, current reserve pilot Ferrari and whose name comes back insistently from home Haas replacing Mick Schumacher, will also be gauged by Alpine, who would also consider it. Joined by us, Alpine told us that it would not reveal the names of the pilots concerned. Note that according to our information, the big favorite for the seat remains… Pierre Gasly. As a reminder, the Norman is still under Red Bull contract with AlphaTauri until 2023, and Milton Keynes will only let go of him if it finds a replacement who suits him 100%. But until when Alpine Can she afford to wait?

And De Vries wouldn't be a bad choice... if Toto accepts him! But Alpine will it want to display a full line-up under Mercedes management?

Giovinazzi gauged by Alpine ? Yet another error from managementAlpine !! Giovinazzi no longer has his place in F1 like Latifi and Mazespin... Let's hope thatAlpine will do what is necessary to recover Gasly, even if it means having Herta test on behalf of Red Bull / Alpha Tauri so that he can accumulate kilometers and obtain his superlicense

The unsolvable equation (for now) Alpine wants a driver capable of scoring points straight away, young, but with experience!!! To date only one would do, Gasly, except that he will not be released, unless Alpine agree to spend almost as much as they didn't want for Alonso, and I won't budge, between Occon and Gasly it won't do it.
