Antonio Giovinazzi remains focused on F1

Last Sunday on the Moroccan route of Marrakech, Antonio Giovinazzi played the Rookie Tests in Formula E, aligned with the DSV-03 of DS Virgin Racing. The Italian admitted to Gazzetta dello Sport that it was “on a personal initiative, without Ferrari take no part in it.”

But this experience should not constitute for the moment a new career direction for Giovinazzi who remains focused on a single objective.

“I wanted to understand how everything works in Formula E, because there is nothing better than driving a racing car. But my priority remains F1. I will do anything to get a place on one of the teams. » comments Giovinazzi in the columns of Gazzetta.

Author of the seventh cumulative time over the entire day, more than a second behind Nyck de Vries (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler), the Transalpine had described the driving of the car 100% electric like “very different from anything I have ridden in the past with less downforce and more concentration needed on braking. »

Antonio Giovinazzi, resident of the Ferrari fold, will evolve as a reserve driver at Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team in 2018, alongside the regular drivers Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson. Giovinazzi replaced Pascal Wehrlein in Australia and China last year, the German still convalescing.
