Here is some news that will delight fans of Formula 1 and movie buffs. Apple announced on Wednesday the acquisition of the rights to a new F1 film, not yet named. After the recent successes of Rush and Le Mans 66, the American giant wants to ride the wave of popularity of the premier category of motorsport. No release date has been revealed yet. Note that the film should be released in theaters before streaming on Apple TV +.
The film would be directed by the same people as for the blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick. Joseph Kosinski will direct the feature film, while Apple has confirmed Brad Pitt as the lead actor. Little surprise: Lewis Hamilton would be one of the producers of the film.
Part of the scenario has also been revealed: Brad Pitt would play a driver coming out of retirement to face, alongside a beginner driver, the legends of Formula 1. The rest of the casting is still unknown.
