Apple's interest in Formula 1 keeps growing. The multinational, who has already acquired the rights to a film on the discipline with Brad Pitt as the star actor, wants even more. According to a report published in the latest issue from Business F1 magazine, the American firm is reportedly considering making an offer of around $2 billion per year to become the exclusive holder of Formula 1 broadcast rights.
A staggering offer, which currently represents more than double what Formula 1 receives from its global television rights. Apple was convinced by the success of the Season Pass for the MLS (Professional Football League in the United States), which would encourage it to do the same for F1 via its Apple TV application.
Apple exclusive broadcaster worldwide… from 2030?
However, Apple would have to proceed step by step before being able to claim exclusive broadcasting rights worldwide. Indeed, several national broadcasters currently have long-term contracts with F1. For example, Canal + has the rights in France until 2029. Apple's offensive could then start in the United States, with the purchase of TV rights from 2026, to succeed ESPN whose TV rights expire. in 2025.
The company – valued at nearly $3 trillion – would then agree a deal that would include more and more territories as rights become available in those markets. Apple is reportedly looking to sign a seven-year deal, with global rights becoming available in five years at the latest since F000's current media deals expire no later than 1.
