After the rain in Australia, what weather forecast for the Chinese Grand Prix?

The skies have not been kind to the twenty drivers on the grid Formula 1 for the opening of the 2025 season in Melbourne. After two great days of testing and qualifying, the first Grand Prix of the year was held in the rain and on a soggy track, causing the retirement of six drivers: Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), Jack Doohan (Alpine), Carlos Sainz (Williams), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) and Liam Lawson (Red Bull).

Formula 1 returns this weekend to Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix, the venue for the first sprint round of the season. Unlike in Australia, the three-day Chinese event is expected to take place in warm and pleasant conditions. according to forecasts shared by the official F1 website.

Weather forecast for the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix:

  • The weather forecast for Friday, March 21, Free Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying, is expected to be sunny. Temperatures are expected to be 24°C for FP1 and 23°C for Sprint Qualifying. The risk of rain is set at 0%.
  • For Saturday, March 22, the day of the Sprint race and qualifying for the Grand Prix, conditions are expected to be similar to the day before, with an estimated temperature of 25°C for the Sprint and 24°C for qualifying.
  • For Sunday, March 23, the day of the Grand Prix, the sky is expected to become overcast with an estimated 40% chance of rain... but in the evening, after the scheduled finish of the race. The expected temperature for the start is 26°C.

Free Practice 1 for the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix will begin at 4:30 a.m. on Friday morning (French time).
