McLaren Will it succeed in ending a 26-year drought? The English team seems in any case to be getting closer, especially after the double in the Sprint Race of the Qatar Grand Prix this Saturday.
Thanks to the victory ofOscar piastri, who saw his teammate Lando Norris letting him pass at the exit of the last corner, the Woking team scored 15 points while Ferrari took 9 on his side (Carlos Sainz 4th and Charles Leclerc 5e).
Coming into Qatar, McLaren were 24 points ahead of the Scuderia and needed to score 21 more points over the weekend to secure the Constructors' title. If they didn't, it would be decided in Abu Dhabi the following weekend. With 6 more points scored in the Sprint than the Italians, the English now need to score 15 more points than their rivals this Sunday at the Qatar Grand Prix.
This would allow them to extend their lead to more than 45 points and thus could not be caught again, while there would be only 44 points left to play in Abu Dhabi. For example, if McLaren takes another one-two this Sunday, the Constructors' title would return to Woking, 26 years after the last one.
