After Toro Rosso and Red Bull, Renault does not intend to sell off its engines for 2014

He will not see his price go down. Carlos Ghosn, the boss of Renault, has been inflexible on its new 6l V1.6 Turbo hybrid engine which will come into force next year. Rumors indicate that its cost would be several million euros higher than the blocks of other competitors. “There are concerns about the price of the engine, I understand that, but our commitment is to work to reduce its costs”, declared the leader, while Red Bull and Toro Rosso have made their commitment official with the French engine manufacturer during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. "We won't be surprised if a third (partner, Editor’s note) be there soon. We could have more, but we don?t need it?. If Caterham should soon confirm its partnership with Renault, Williams would go on his own to Mercedes while Lotus could also look elsewhere…

Concerning the price in force for the next season, there is no question of changing it. “We are not going to reduce the original price for anyone in 2014, but we are going to work hard every year to make this engine more efficient, to reduce its costs and to deduct them for our customers”. Estimates put the future Renault block at 20 million euros per season.
