Aston Martin 'probably' in F1 around 2021

Aston Martin seems to be getting a little closer to arriving in F1. The British manufacturer already engaged in Endurance strengthened its partnership with Red Bull this year by affixing its logo prominently on the bodywork of the RB13.

Andy Palmer, the director of Aston Martin, confirmed on BBC Sports that he planned to place the brand in the premier single-seater discipline, taking advantage in particular of the future technical regulations which will be put in place in 2021.

“We went from the stage where I probably wouldn't offer it to the stage where I probably would offer”, said Andy Palmer.

Aston Martin's decision will directly depend on the direction taken by F1, currently stuck in restrictive and opaque technical regulations for spectators.

“We need to make the discipline interesting again, specified Andy Palmer. The driver must return to the center while it is now the turbo that has taken its place. I'm an engineer and I love technology, but it sucks. How can we impose penalties of 35 places on a grid that has 20 cars. This is nonsense. We are commercially driven, just like Red Bull. But our intention is above all motivated by the love we have for the discipline. »

Aston Martin has been mentioned for several months as a possible future engine supplier for Red Bull. The two structures have already created a hypercar together with AM-RB 001.
