The hope of podiums in 2023 has given way to despair in the ranks ofAston Martin in 2024. The English team which hoped to continue its march forward, still carried by Fernando Alonso, did not have the expected success. She thus began this campaign with a well-defined hierarchy: behind the Top 4 and in front of the rest of the peloton.

A No Man's Land in which Lawrence's training Stroll has evolved practically throughout the year, even suffering in the last rounds while Haas, Alpine and even Racing Bulls got back on track in the final sprint. Fortunately for the Greens, the lead they took at the start of the season allowed them to comfortably grab 5th place in the Constructors' Championship. Nevertheless, it was very far from the initial expectations.

« We have had a very difficult season, admits team principal Mike Krack. We had higher expectations. We started the year where we thought we were as a team. We wanted to close the gap with the teams ahead of us. The opposite happened, we were caught by the midfield with whom we had a fairly big gap at the beginning of the year, so we can't be happy with how things went. »

Lessons to be learned and recruits to be integrated

The winter is therefore going to be busy for the new Silverstone factory. Internally, if the final result is disappointing compared to the objectives set at the beginning of the year, we are still pleased to have " learned a lot about the car this year that we need to apply to next year »

Among the points to improve, Aston Martin is aware that the team has struggled a lot with the development. If the production line has been running at full speed, the elements produced have not brought satisfaction and allowed the AMR24 to make a leap in performance.

To do this, Lawrence Stroll did not hesitate to draw and line up the millions to make an XXL transfer window. Thus, the Greens are preparing to welcome none other than Andy Cowell (CEO), Adrian Newey (technical management partner, from March 1, 2025) and Enrico Cardile (technical director). With the hope of moving forward and finally hooking up with the Big Four!

the very bad technical feedback from the 2 drivers is responsible for the decline in performance. alonso, with his counter-current feedback that has ruined all the cars he has "developed", but that we continue to listen to like the messiah (he works so much! he goes so fast! he is wonderful! ..) as long as it is like this, it will not work. no comment on stroll but he is not ridiculous. when newey has made a good car in 2026, that he will have feedback from alonso that he will not understand, we will admit (finally) that fernando is a good driver but that's all, and that will be (finally) the end of the story

However, the Aston Martin team has one advantage: having two drivers who, according to Fernand himself, have complementary technical feedback! That being said, those of the only permanent contract on the grid may not be enough to make the team progress...
