Aston Martin is perhaps one of the only teams (with McLaren) not having changed its crew for the 2025 season, the British team has not remained inactive on the transfer market. The Greens have recruited a lot behind the scenes, with the signing of renowned engineers such as Enrico Cardile but especially, Adrian Newey. After twenty years spent at Red Bull, the Briton changes teams and joins the Silverstone team with the aim of leading Aston Martin to the world title, as he did with Williams, McLaren and Red Bull in the past.
Adrian Newey, Aston Martin's new shareholder and main technical partner, has not yet taken up his duties: the Briton is due to take up his post on 1 March. A highly anticipated arrival at Silverstone. "He is one of the few engineers who can make the link between aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics and the data 'collector' that is the driver", underlines Andy Cowell, new Team Principal of Aston Martin, who describes the arrival of Adrian Newey at Aston Martin as "brilliant".
“He can communicate well with the rider and get feedback that maybe the telemetry doesn’t show, and he can bring that back to the factory and help us figure out what’s going to help us improve the lap time the best. I think we’ll feel the benefit of him from the first few days, says the British leader, eager to welcome his new recruit to Silverstone. I'm sure he's frustrated that he's not working on Formula 1 right now, especially since there are new regulations [in 2026]. I'm sure he'll give us his observations on the concept of the car, but also on the tools, on the fidelity of our tools and equipment, and he'll tell us what we should improve."
Newey even more valuable than AI, says Aston Martin
If it is already too late for Adrian Newey to have an impact on the AMR25 – officially presented this Sunday – the Briton will be able to bring his knowledge and experience to the car 2026, whose aerodynamic development was able to begin on January 1st. A crucial deadline for Aston Martin, which is aiming for the title in the coming years thanks to the technical revolution that is being prepared for 2026. For Andy Cowell, Adrian Newey's genius has no equal... and even artificial intelligence cannot replace the English engineer.
“Human creativity is hard to quantify, right? There is the threat that AI will come along and take over human creativity, but I think AI is a tool that helps human creativity, estimates the Aston Martin Team Principal. That's why I think people like Adrian have a broad perspective and the determination to chase performance, and I believe that's what he will bring." See you in 2026 to find out if Adrian Newey has succeeded in his mission.

It would still be a bit surprising if Adrian Newey had not worked a little on the AMR25 single-seater and its potential developments in his 2024 free time. In any case, his brain is constantly boiling and he has certainly communicated some useful information on the 2026 regulations to the Aston Martin team before his integration next March...
