Aston Martin wants to become "one of the best teams in F1"

Aston Martin don't come back Formula 1 to make up the figure. In any case, this is the intention of his new captain Lawrence Stroll

After a brief appearance in Grands Prix without much success at the turn of the 60s, Gaydon's brand is preparing to make its return in 2021, replacing the Racing Point team, also owned by the Canadian fashion mogul.

The Silverstone team will be renamed the Aston Martin F1 Team with the aim of making it a factory team. A name undoubtedly a bit usurped when we know that the team will continue to use engines Mercedes with a chassis designed by the technical core of the former Jordan, Midland, Spyker, and Force India structure.

« Lawrence Stroll spoke to the entire team last week and the aim is to make Aston Martin one of the best teams on the grid, assures Otmar Szafnauer, CEO of Racing Point since the takeover of Force India in mid-2018.

There will be clear synergies on a technical level between the F1 program and the production cars with a transfer of technologies to the Aston Martin models which will be launched.

Most of the changes to becoming a factory team will take place behind the scenes. This should not become a distraction for the 2020 season. We want to perform well with the RP20 ».

Entrusted to the care of Sergio Pérez and Lance Stroll, sons of who-you-know, the last Racing Point in history will be presented on Monday February 17 in the Austrian town of Mondsee, stronghold of the main sponsor of the BWT team.
