'No guarantee' that Lance Stroll will finish the season with Williams

Already very agitated after the announcement of the transfer of Daniel Ricciardo in Renault, is the pilot transfer window about to suffer new shocks, consequences of takeover of Force India by Lawrence Stroll's Racing Point UK Limited consortium.

Officially becoming Racing Point Force India, the team seems a perfect base for his son Lance, who races under the colors Williams since his debut in the premier category in 2017.

« For the moment nothing has changed on my side, assured the Montreal native at a press conference ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix. I always wear a Williams polo shirt, and I will be 100% focused on my job this weekend.

For the moment, I am engaged with them, my contract is with Williams. We have had some great performances together in the past. So for now I'm determined to try and beat Force India on track ". Before adding in a false joking tone: “ I don't know what the next step in my journey will be. We'll see what my father decides on this subject. He's a nice guy. I hope he takes me on his team ».

Relaunched to find out if he was certain to finish the season with the Grove team, Stroll suggested that a change of horizon could come even before the 2019 season.

« There is no guarantee, I'm all about this weekend and I'm going to give it my all as I always do and see what the future has in store for me. For now, I'm taking the weekends one after the other ».

Words that don't really fit the words of a driver who is planning for the long term with his current team. In the paddock, there are growing rumors that Stroll could join Racing Point Force India from Monza.

His arrival would lead to the departure ofEsteban Ocon, considered too dangerous as a teammate, for McLaren, Stoffel Vandoorne finding himself ousted after his national Grand Prix. At Williams, reserve Robert Kubica would find a starting place for the first time since the 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Questioned about these persistent rumors, the Belgian displayed a deliberately optimistic speech.

« I have no doubt, he replied when asked if he would be present at Monza next weekend. I know there are a lot of rumors and question marks in the press but I am 100% confident. The only thing I can do is concentrate on my job. And I have already demonstrated that I am one of the teammates of Fernando Alonso the closest he's ever been ».

If Vandoorne could keep his McLaren seat until the end of the season, it is in any case understood that Woking is not counting on him to support Carlos Sainz in 2019.
