Although it had not been the most brilliant in sporting terms, this Chinese Grand Prix definitely turned into an ordeal for Ferrari. The Italians have indeed seen Charles Leclerc et Lewis Hamilton violate the technical regulations, against their will.

The Monegasque was caught by the patrol after his single-seater was weighed below the minimum weight allowed during post-race checks while English was notified of excessive wear and tear at the rear skate level.

Charles Leclerc's weight was 799 kg, compared to the limit of 800 kg. Lewis Hamilton was also below the limit imposed on the wear of his rear pad. While it must be a minimum of 9 mm, the thickness recorded fluctuated between 8,5 and 8,6 mm.

The result? A double disqualification, even though they had initially taken the checkered flag in 5th and 6th positions, much to the disappointment of the Scuderia, which provided some explanations that could have led to this double disqualification.

« Charles was on a one-stop strategy, Ferrari explains in a press release. This means that the tire wear was too high, which caused the car to be below the minimum authorized weight.

Regarding Lewis, we misjudged the pad wear by a small margin. There was no intention of gaining any advantage. We will learn from what happened and make sure we don't make the same mistakes again. »

Tough, tough, but the fault lies with the boss and his pit/wall team! When you make a single tire change, you know that he's going to lose more "pieces" than normal (remember Russell's disgrace at Francorchamps)! So, a good "boss" signals to his driver that after crossing the line, he's going to return to the pits at a moderate pace, especially not staying on the trajectories to then gain weight with the tire residue that will stick to those of the car!!! But at Ferrari, in the end, let's see how to believe it, or rather how to know???? Sad team, to date.

Hard law but not very sporty. The laws are there to set a framework, but what do you gain for a kilo less? The fact is, we know what Ferrari lost.

How are we going to learn? But it's unworthy for a team that has been present in F1 for ages and whose aim is nothing less than the title! It doesn't look very serious; it's Latin dilettantism. It's brilliant, it's beautiful, but basically very light, unlike the Germans or the English where rigor is the key word. Hamilton will suffer...

It’s a shame not to have tried to recover as many marbles as possible, given that Shanghai is known to be very sensitive in terms of consumption!

But of course next time it will be for something else, Ferrari has no excuse, it's just amateurism unworthy of a top team
