Audi may not arrive in Formula 1 that in 2026, the German brand will not wait until 2025 to get to work. The Germans, who have already announced their alliance with the Swiss team Sauber, have even started to advance their pawns. Andreas Seidl, formerly of Volkswagen, was poached from McLaren, where he was nevertheless a pillar of the project. Officially, the German is badged Sauber and will be at the helm ofHinwil from 2023, but it is difficult not to see the choice of Ingolstadt.

Audi already focused on 2026

In an interview given to the Hispanic media I amMotor, Adam Baker stated that “The manufacturer is looking for an experienced driver to help it develop its power units in preparation for their entry into F1. » Before explaining in more detail. “It may seem that our beginnings are still far away, but we want to have a development pilot by the end of 2023. It is very important to have someone who has experience to develop our new engine in the simulators that we have in Neuburg.”

The CEO of Audi Formula Racing is obviously also looking for qualified personnel. “We are looking for experts in the field with previous experience in Formula 1. This is the first time since 2009 that a Formula 1 engine has been developed in Germany and so if we want specialist personnel we have to look in England, France or Italy. » Like its commitment to Endurance, where the brand with the rings obtained 13 overall victories at Le Mans between 2000 and 2016, Audi does not seem to have come to make up the numbers.

Too bad, Schumi Jr recently joined Mercedes! Vettel won't want to use the simulator... Heidfeld, Glock, Wehrlein?
