Audiences on the rise in 2017

La F1 published the results of the audiences for the 2017 season. In total, more than four million people came to watch a Grand Prix this year, an increase of 8% compared to 2016, knowing that one more event was contested last year with the German GP at Hockenheim.

Of the 20 Grands Prix contested, 13 events saw ticket sales increase. The most impressive increase was noted in Baku at the Azerbaijan GP with an increase of 58%. The other Grands Prix having experienced the biggest increases are Canada and Austria with 60 more spectators compared to the previous season.

The average per event is 203 people and 570 on race day. F76 management recalls that these results exceed the averages of the Champions League, the NFL or the last Football World Cup in 722.

“The 2017 season offered a great spectacle, whether on or off the track, thanks to the drivers, the teams and above all the public who are the heart of our sport, comments Sean Bratches. With an average audience of more than 200 spectators per event over 000 weekends, this means that the equivalent of a medium-sized city comes to see an F20 race. »
