The holidays are barely over when heads are already focused on the competition. Haas arrives at Spa-Francorchamps with ambition but also with new arguments. For the Belgian Grand Prix, the American team will maintain the developments introduced in Hungary, on the car de Kevin Magnussen. “We were able to see that the data from the car matched that from the wind tunnel, which is always a good sign, admits Günther Steiner, the boss of the team. Now we have to make the most of it in terms of lap times. Before the summer break, the team looked at the data closely and they will do so even more now that they are back from the break. So far it looks good and we hope we can improve our lap times. »

Even better for Haas: Mick Schumacher will also benefit from the new package on its VF-22. “Both cars will have the improvement pack. We had a kit ready before the summer break from racing. We said we were going to put it on a car first to collect data, then when we come back we will have this data and we can already work on the settings, to go straight to Spa” explains the Italian director.

Haas, aim for 6th place among manufacturers?

In Hungary, on a track which was not favorable to the Banbury single-seaters, Haas did not manage to get out of Q2 with Magnussen. The American cars left Budapest with zero points, but with some reasons for satisfaction. For the Belgian event, Günther Steiner's team would like to regain the momentum of July (19 points at Silverstone and Spielberg).

Haas intends to maintain 7th place in the constructors' standings, and even aim for a little more. “We haven't readjusted our target, we just got back to where we wanted to be at the start of the season, being now in 7th position. I hope we can maintain this championship position, that's the number one goal. Goal number two is to try and get to sixth place, but we'll see,” hopes Steiner. Heading into the Belgian Grand Prix, Haas is 17 points behindAlfa Romeo among manufacturers, but is still under threat ofAlpha Tauri andAston Martin, respectively at 7 and 14 units.
