Tychaeus, the deity of luck and destiny, did not intervene this time for the Florida race. Lando Norris which, unlike the Sprint event, was unable to take advantage of its lucky star. As a reminder, last year, Lando Norris took his first victory in Formula 1 on the Miami circuit, thanks to a safety car that appeared at the right time. On Saturday, for the Sprint race, a safety car allowed him to win again, ahead of his teammate Oscar piastri.
This Sunday, it was not the gods who blocked the Briton's path, but a man - often the same one: Max VerstappenStarting from pole, the Dutchman locked his wheels at the first corner before sliding back onto the track. Lando Norris, second at the start, almost took advantage of the driver's excess optimism. Red Bull, but suffered a tough return to the track, forcing him to avoid the collision by cutting the bend. Result: the McLaren No. 4 lost four positions and found itself sixth, having been within a hair's breadth of taking the lead in Florida. Despite this, Lando Norris praised his team's work and was satisfied with his second place.
« The team did a great job, the pit stops were good and the pace of the car was good too., recognized the Englishman. We were way ahead, which is always a good feeling. Oscar drove very well. I'm still happy to finish second. »
Norris points the finger at Verstappen's driving
Despite his questionable return to the track, Max Verstappen received no penalty, and Lando Norris was forced to regain his lost positions. Fortunately, the McLaren's pace was exceptional this Sunday, but the Briton didn't hesitate to make some strong comments against Max Verstappen.
« Max fought well as always, I paid the price, but that's how it is, said the British driver after the race. If I don't attack on the first lap, people complain; if I do, they complain too, so you can never win! But that's how it is with Max, it's usually an accident or you don't go through. When you put yourself in an ideal position, you can get out of it, but I paid the price, I didn't do a good enough job. »
While Lando Norris may be beating himself up and regretting not being better, some of his fortune is due to the Red Bull driver, who is not known for being docile on track - especially when it comes to defending first place.
Second under the checkered flag, the Englishman can still bear a bitter taste from this Florida weekend. While he did almost everything perfectly this Sunday—a good start, a solid race pace—victory eluded him to the benefit of his teammate Oscar Piastri, who, this time, was Tychée's chosen one. With this third consecutive victory, the Australian is now 16 points behind the number 4 in the world championship.

Verstappen knows that Norris is more fragile than Piastri and he takes advantage of it. That said, it was still in his interest to let Norris pass so that the two McLaren drivers could fight and possibly clash to reap the rewards!

Verstappen's behavior is unacceptable and has become ridiculous, because it was only delaying the race. For a year now, he has been unnecessarily destroying his own image, because last year he didn't need it to win, and this year it's useless. But Norris is mistaken: it's not "the people who complain" who drive his car. He actually had the entire race to overtake Verstappen in an unstoppable way, which he was able to do a little later, moreover. In the duel with Piastri, stupidly losing a victory like that will be dearly paid for at the end of the season.

With such a mindset, Norris has no chance of winning. And not just Verstappen. Instead of feeling sorry for himself and complaining about Verstappen's driving, he would do better to take inspiration from his garage neighbor who managed to push the Red Bull driver into making a mistake... Priastri, on the other hand, didn't rush, he took his time before giving the Dutchman a cold! Knowing that he had a much better pace than the Dutchman, Norris had 57 laps to overtake him and he was thrown out at the first corner... He should understand that the winner is the one who crosses the finish line first and not the one who comes out on top at the first corner, especially on a circuit that allows overtaking!!!
