After a series of gloomy weekends, is it finally time for lightening up at Alpha Tauri. At least that's what Franz Tost's gang will hope for. In France, the Italian team will make improvements to its AT03 for the first time this season. I have to say that Pierre Gasly et Yuki tsunoda really need it. Since Baku, both drivers have been unable to keep up with the pace of the mid-pack teams. In Austria, AlphaTauri had one of the slowest cars, finishing penultimate and penultimate in the Grand Prix.

So upon arriving at the Paul Ricard circuit, the Italian team hopes to regain its place in the middle of the pack. “ I hope things go much better with the updates we get on the car this weekend » announces Pierre Gasly. These famous developments that the Habs have been demanding for several weeks mainly focus on one aspect. “ They are mainly focused on aerodynamics and should improve performance. So I can't wait to try them at Ricard, in the hope that they will allow us to get back into the points race », explains Pierre Gasly.

More downforce on the AlphaTauri single-seaters

Yuki Tsunoda is also eager to see the evolution of performances at Castellet. “ We opted for one major improvement rather than a multitude of small improvements. The new upgrade is focused on adding more downforce to the car, as we were quite weak in mid and high speed corners. I hope this will give us more consistency and allow us to fight in the middle of the pack again », Says the Japanese who is aiming for a return to Q3 this Saturday.

This Friday will therefore be the time of the big test for AlphaTauri. The entire Italian team will certainly be crossing their fingers in the garage that the developments will lead to an increase in performance. After returning empty-handed from the last three meetings, the team based in Faenza was overtaken in the championship by 7 points by Haas which now occupies 7th place. The time when AlphaTauri was fighting for 5th place now seems a long way off but developments could put Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda back on the right path.
