It's not just the Formula 1 in the life of Max Verstappen. Despite all the passion he has for the discipline of which he is a three-time reigning world champion, the Dutchman has always been interested in other categories. He is known to be a fan of simracing and he does not hesitate to do it during Grand Prix weekends as was the case at Imola and more recently in Hungary where he competed in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and Spa respectively. .
Jos' son was also curious about the world of GT. It is not uncommon to see him try GT3s when he does not have an obligation with F1. So, he takes to the European circuits to ride, ride and ride again. Very attracted by this discipline, he even joined forces with Red Bull to create a team “ Verstappen.com » which we find in GT World Challenge Europe or even in DTM with Ferrari 296 GT3 and technical support from Emil Frey Racing.
With this structure, he intends to combine simracing with real driving to make it a real bridge. “ If I do something, I want to do it well, he confided last year in the columns of our Dutch colleagues from Formula1.nl. I want to win, even here. And it's about creating a springboard between sim racing and GT3. So that we cannot access motorsport only through the karting because it costs a lot of money at the moment »
An idea that is discussed again in the documentary “Off the Beaten Track” that Max Verstappen launched in collaboration with ViaPlay, a Swedish streaming platform. In this one, the Red Bull driver confides in a little more detail about the ambitions of his sporting entity in which he is involved alongside F1.
« It's something I grew up with in the back of my mind., He explains. One day, when you tell yourself that F1 is over and you no longer want to drive, well you think about managing your own team. Ultimately, I would like Verstappen.com to become a pure team. For the moment, it is a team in association with drivers, our liveries, sponsors… But the objective is to have our own team. » We will now see if he will be able to resist the temptation of not getting back behind the wheel when he becomes team boss.

Not all F1 champions have been as successful as Bruce McLaren... Dan Gurney, Graham Hill, Emerson Fittipaldi, Alain Prost... have not had a career as team boss as successful as the one behind the wheel!!
