There will be a 100% Japanese duo at RB, for the first Free Practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix. At Suzuka, the Italian team will field Ayumu Iwasa aboard its VCARB-01 on Friday April 5. The Japanese driver will take the place of Daniel Ricciardo for this session. RB is therefore the first team in the field to trust a young driver for a Free Practice session. As a reminder, the ten teams are required to allow two Free Practice sessions (one per car) to a rookie driver during the season.

It was Helmut Marko who announced the registration of Ayumu Iwasa for EL1, in the columns of the Austrian media Speedweek. “On Friday we will use our young driver Ayumu Iwasa for testing, an all-Japanese team. The Suzuka track should suit the Racing Bulls. » After two seasons in Formula 2, the protégé of the clan Red Bull returned to Japan to compete in the Super Formula championship this season. His first race – contested on the same Suzuka circuit – ended with a 9th place.

The Honey Badger who leaves his place in EL1 of the Japanese GP, this is an excellent opportunity for the Aussie to strengthen his confidence behind the wheel of the Ridiculous Bulls 2024!!
