Baguette satisfied with his F1 test

Like his predecessors Robert Kubica, Alx Danielsson, Alvaro Parente and Giedo Van der Garde before him, Bertrand Baguette, the winner of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, completed a day of testing with the Renault team F1, on the Jerez circuit, Tuesday.

The Belgian driver, like the other drivers present, started the session cautiously, constantly improving his level of performance. “ I especially didn't want to make the slightest mistake », explains Bertrand Baguette. “ The objective was to discover this F1 while carrying out the program defined by Renault F1 Team. I took great pleasure in driving this car, it is obvious, but we have also worked a lot. The cornering speed and braking power are the two points that impressed me the most. My mission is really to correctly complete the entire testing program that we have established before seeking performance. »

After a debriefing with the team engineers, Bertrand got back behind the wheel in the afternoon to complete around sixty laps. In the end, the Belgian was one of the most diligent on the track, completing 105 laps, the best in 1'20"511. “ We worked a lot on the car and constantly improved the set up »concludes Bertrand. “ After completing our development program, we, as planned, tried to make time. Unfortunately, on new tires at the end of the session, we encountered an exhaust problem and we did not improve as we expected. It really is a very positive experience. I have done more than 100 laps and physically everything is fine. I think I'm going to do a lot of tricks in my head tonight! I can't wait for it to start again. »

Bertrand Baguette will have the opportunity to get back behind the wheel of another car on Thursday, since he will occupy the BMW-Sauber seat.
