Bahrain: Ecclestone lets the Prince decide

The more the days pass, the more we seem to be heading towards a pure and simple cancellation of the opening round of the world championship of Formula 1 following the events shaking Bahrain over the past week. Bernie Ecclestone told British channel BBC 5 that the decision to continue the race or not should be made on Tuesday.

“I haven't spoken to the Crown Prince this morning, so I don't know what's going on there. explains the Briton. If anyone has to make a decision, then it's him. He will decide whether or not it is safe for us to go there. Let's wait until Tuesday to decide whether this GP should take place or not. Maybe we could postpone it. »

Bernie Ecclestone has in any case ruled out the possibility of moving the event elsewhere. According to the Daily Mail, FOTA for its part judged, in private, “irresponsible and inappropriate to go to Bahrain at a time when this country has suffered several deaths after violent demonstrations. »

As for the Vice-President of Mercedes Motorsport Norbert Haug, he would have declared: “The safety of our employees is more important than anything else. »

The father of Sebastian Vettel For his part, he has simply canceled his ticket to Bahrain.
