The raid McLaren doesn't stop! For the eighth time in nine testing sessions since the start of the season, it was a McLaren that dominated FP2 in Bahrain. Oscar piastri set the best time, succeeding his teammate Lando Norris, who had dominated the first hour of the weekend's running. The championship leader took second place, 0 behind his garage neighbor.
The rest of the grid found itself more than half a second behind Oscar Piastri, and the Mercedes have returned to a decent level of performance. George Russell recovered his car after leaving it to Frederik Vesti in FP1 and set the third fastest time, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli was 5th. The Italian had only been able to drive for seven minutes in the first session before suffering a technical problem. This time, his Mercedes held firm, and the rookie completed a good twenty laps on the Sakhir circuit.
Hadjar on top, Verstappen struggles
Charles Leclerc was placed between the Silver Arrows for its first ride with the new floor of Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton, who had struggled a lot in EL1, seemed a little more comfortable, but remains a good distance behind his teammate (8th, +0″531). The day was also more difficult for the outgoing winners of Suzuka. Max Verstappen complained about his brakes, while Yuki tsunoda had criticized his “lazy” accelerator pedal in EL1.
The Austrian team seems to be struggling to find performance, but the magic could work again overnight to make it Red Bull a much more competitive car before qualifying on Saturday. The Red Bull B team was once again the pleasant surprise of the session with the 6th time of Isack Hadjar, who continues to impress.
On the other hand, it was harder for the other French drivers. Second in FP1, Pierre Gasly dropped to 17th place, but the protégé ofAlpine is only 0 seconds behind Kimi Antonelli, 7th. Esteban Ocon (16th) narrowly beats his former teammate, but is once again beaten by Oliver Bearman, after the snub at Suzuka.

Verstappen is struggling and Tsunoda even more so! Curious to know what Red Bull management is doing to justify such a gap between the two RB2s. Perhaps this is an opportunity for Tsunoda to test his own settings.
