Bahrain, happy to open the season

After Melbourne and many other circuits, it is now in Sakhir that the racing season Formula 1 begins “traditionally”. This is only the third time that the kick-off has been given there but the organizers see themselves holding this role for longer, enjoying launching the F1 season.

“We are really proud that the Bahrain International Circuit is the opening Grand Prix of the season,” explains Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, boss of the circuit, to Gulfnews.com. We are working very hard to maintain this first race with FOM (Formula One Management). It's a challenge but I would like to thank the F1 management and Bernie Ecclestone. »

For Bahrain, this position of “opener” seems primordial. “It's very important for us and our sponsors to be the first race, because it means people are talking about the race for three months instead of two weeks, which happened when we were third. »
