Barrichello accuses Brawn (again)

« I am very disturbed by the way the race went today. Because it is the good example to show how to lose a race. » Rubens Barrichello is bitter. Sixth at the finish of the German Grand Prix, the Brazilian nevertheless occupied the head of the peloton for a long time, a position that he owes only to himself.

Starting in second position, Barrichello took advantage of the lightness of his car to overtake a struggling Webber. Hit by the Australian, the Brawn driver saw his rival penalized with a drive through (passage to the pit), leaving him free at the head of the Grand Prix. But a very curious three-stop strategy, combined with the tremendous efficiency of Mark Webber, doomed the veteran of the paddock. Later, the third stop caused him to lose fifth place, gleaned by his teammate Jenson Button at his expense. This is not the first disappointment for the Brazilian, who had already been penalized by a three-stop strategy during the Spanish Grand Prix, where Jenson Button had a more effective tactic than his colleague.

« I did what I had to do, declared the Brazilian after the race. I had to take the lead at the first corner and that's what I did. Then they (Brawn, editor's note) made me lose the race. If we continue like this, we will lose both championships, and that would be terrible. » Rubens Barrichello had already complained openly following the Spanish Grand Prix, rightly suggesting that Jenson Button had been favored. Ross Brawn had sought to reassure him, while the veteran threatened to hang up his helmet.

This time, the Brazilian does not want to confide in his boss and prefers to think about taking a little rest. “ I just want to get on the plane and go home. I don't want to talk to anyone on the team. It would just be a lot of “blah blah”. I don't want that. I'm just terribly upset. »
