Bernie is thinking about another GP in the USA

While the organizers of the Austin Grand Prix announced that the contract with the FIA extended over 10 years and that construction would soon start, Bernie Ecclestone is considering the possibility of inserting other races into the calendar for the next seasons, in order to reestablish the discipline on the American continent.

Bernie thus announced that another race in the United States would be possible, if the situation presented itself to him. “ I would like to clarify, Austin will indeed be the US Grand Prix, but that does not mean that another race in the United States with another name is impossible. », he announced on Autoweek.com. « It would be crazy to refuse another race in New York, for example. »

Certain indications suggest that other circuits would seem interested in hosting the discipline, which will make its return from 2012, if construction progresses according to forecasts. The candidacy of Indianapolis was mentioned a few months ago, and proposals would be favorable to a race near New York. The Watkins Glen circuit would, for example, be an interesting route for the discipline, which was there from 1961 to 1980.

Bernie Ecclestone seems to want to get closer and closer to America. In a previous interview, he announced that he would be in favor of an American driver being on the starting grids again. The name of Danica Patrick had been cited as an example by the great financier.
