Bianchi continues to convince at the Chinese GP

Jules Bianchi delivered another great performance at the Chinese Grand Prix. After starting from 18th position on the starting grid, the Marussia driver avoided the pitfalls that littered the race and managed to gain an advantage over the Caterham of Charles Pic to take the checkered flag in 15th position and by being the first driver within a lap of the winner Fernando Alonso. The Frenchman achieved the same result as in Melbourne where he competed in his first Grand Prix before taking 13th place at Sepang.

“I am very happy with this 15th place but it was a difficult race and I was relieved to see the finish after a difficult last stint with the tires (24 laps)”, commented the rookie of the Russian team. “I got a good start and managed to hold my position for a while until Pic passed in front after I completed a longer first stint. I spent the next two stints fighting to regain my position until the third stop. I then fought with Maldonado and it was encouraging to see that I was able to keep up with him for a while. I had to concentrate more on the degradation of the tires until the end of the race than on my lead with Pic. The last few laps seemed like an eternity but we managed to get a good result. It was still an enjoyable race, certainly the hardest for me so far, and I think we all learned a lot about the tires. We have made further progress and I hope that we will have the same level in Bahrain (Grand Prix contested this Sunday) before focusing on Europe. »
