Bianchi more relaxed in F1 than in World Series by Renault

If Max Chilton managed to reach the finish after nine Grands Prix, the Briton has a hard time comparing with Jules Bianchi who easily surpasses his teammate. If the fight at the back of the peloton does not make the headlines, the resident of the Ferrari Driver Academy manages to put himself in the spotlight by fighting against the Caterhams. With a best result of 13th at the Malaysian Grand Prix, which represented only his second start in F1, the French pilot is proving that he deserves to have the support of Maranello.

The Marussia driver analyzes the journey after fighting for his starting place in promotional formulas like the GP2 Series and Formula Renault 3.5 Series. “I was totally focused on the race the week before Melbourne and there was no room for anything else in my head”, recognizes Jules Bianchi on the Ferrari.com site. “I spent four days at the factory being with the team to get to know everyone better before flying to Australia. Honestly, once there, I didn't feel too much pressure, even before qualifying or the race. In reality, I was much more relaxed than on World Series weekends for example! »

However, Jules Bianchi tempers by recognizing that the absence of a fight at the forefront requires him to review his approach to the competition. “Of course, the objectives are different: for us, a victory is to finish ahead of Caterham. Do I miss winning? Every driver wants to win, but the important thing is to find the right motivations and that's what I do. I am happy with the way the first races went, with one exception for the last one (mechanical problem and start of fire at the Nürburgring). » As for considering his future within a more prestigious team: “This dream is still present but there is no point in talking about it… Everyone can imagine what it is. »
