Binotto: “These accusations are bad for F1”

The request for clarification on the flow meter requested by Red Bull at the FIA clearly pointed the finger at the Team Ferrari. The SF90s had excellent top speed but struggled more last weekend at the US GP in Austin (Texas). Max Verstappen did not fail to make the connection at the post-race press conference.

These accusations sparked a strong reaction from Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto, who assured that his team had nothing to be ashamed of.

“I have heard and read many things this weekend regarding a technical directive and the impact it would have on our cars. I heard comments at the end of the race which, in my opinion, were very disappointing, given that we were very close to pole the day before, as was the case during the last race. As for Charles, he could certainly also have fought for pole without his engine problems (oil leak) during FP3”, underlined the Italian.

Mattia Binotto explained that Ferrari's poor performance in Austin came from a lack of grip rather than a weakness in engine power.

“These accusations are bad for the F1. It's not good for discipline and I think everyone should be a little more careful.", launched the director of the Italian team.

Sebastian Vettel missed pole by 12 thousandths behind Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) in Austin. Ferrari had not been beaten on pole since the Hungarian GP last July.
