La Team Ferrari was in the spotlight when Red Bull expressed suspicions about the mechanical performance of the SF90 which suddenly became more efficient during the second part of the season. The Red Bull even requested regulatory clarification to the FIA suspecting a trick on the flow meter of the Italian single-seaters.
Maranello Team Principal Mattia Binotto returned to this incident by ensuring that the Prancing Horse could not have hidden anything, the Italian team being scrupulously controlled.
“If you take the whole season, we have been one of the most controlled teams, whether before or after the technical guidelines, assured the Italian during a media meeting. You are always particularly scrutinized when you have a performance advantage. These checks are normal and are useful to prove that we are complying with the regulations. »
“The checks on the car increased after the technical directives, specified Mattia Binotto. Everything that could be done in collaboration with the FIA has been done. We never changed the way we operated the engine during the last part of the season, which proves that our Power Unit was entirely in accordance with the regulations. Otherwise, the first verification would have revealed non-compliance. »
Scuderia Ferrari has not had the slightest reproach from the FIA and intends to make numerous further changes to the car of season 2020.
