La Team Ferrari had to close its doors last Monday due to the confinement implemented in Italy to counter the coronavirus pandemic. Faced with the difficulties encountered by the teams, the FIA ​​decided tobring forward the summer break so that the stables are not penalized.

Mattia Binotto, the director of Scuderia Ferrari, saw his team's activities quickly slowed down.

“The health of our staff is our priority, commented the Italian on the official F1 website. We managed to get to Melbourne, although it wasn't easy for us as we had to change our tickets to get there. What matters is what is happening in Italy and we express our solidarity with our people. »

“There are many restrictions to minimize the risk of contagion and which affects our capacity to develop, added Mattia Binotto. We have tried to recalibrate our development programs based on several calendar assumptions, but we must wait to see the evolution of the coronavirus epidemic around the world and its effects on the rebound in activities. »

Mattia Binotto will not, however, be on vacation since the F1 reflects in particular on postpone the implementation of the new regulation planned for 2021.

“We will have a conference call with all the other teams, F1 and the FIA ​​to talk about the situation and the impact that (the coronavirus) will have on this season but also on the next, confirmed the director of Scuderia Ferrari. We will carefully evaluate each aspect and consider the possibility of postponing the new regulation. Whatever happens, Ferrari is ready to take responsibility for the choice that will be made in the interest of the discipline. Now is not the time to be selfish. »

F1 has postponed its start of the season until the end of May with the hope of contesting the Monaco GP and rescheduling most of the races missed at the start of the year.
