Binotto: 'Vettel couldn't do anything else'

La Team Ferrari thought it could end Ferrari's winning streak Mercedes this season at the Canadian GP, but the Prancing Horse will still have to wait to achieve it. Leading the race after his pole, Sebastian Vettel lost the victory by being given a 5-second penalty for having returned to the track by cutting the line of Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) after a light outing.

Sebastian Vettel openly criticized this decision, which he described as “ unfair ". The four-time world champion was supported by his director Mattia Binotto on Canal+.

“We are all very disappointed, whether it is the team or the public, he commented. We are all convinced that the penalty is not correct. He couldn't do anything else. We'll think about what we're going to do, but there's not much to hope for. »

The Ferrari Team Principal tried to stay positive by highlighting the qualities of the SF90s on the Montreal circuit.

“We proved that we could be competitive over a whole weekend. We are improving, but there is still work to be done. In any case, we will be highly motivated for the future. Our pace was very good, whether in qualifying or in the race, and that's what we will remember.", added Maurizio Arrivabene’s replacement.
