BMW Sauber thanks Kubica

BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen was the first to enter Robert Kubica in the Grand Prix at the Hungarian round in 2006: “Robert played an important role for our team and we certainly played an important role in his career. He arrived with no experience to be a test driver before starting during the 2006 season. He never left us and, with our first pole position in Bahrain then our first victory in Canada in 2008, he marked the history of our team. We thank him for his performances and his consistency and we wish him the best for the rest of his career. »

After starting 55 Grands Prix (and two to come) with BMW Sauber, Kubica said: “Thank you to the team management for giving me my chance in F1. I believe I justified their choice with good results. Our first pole and our first victory will remain unforgettable moments. In 2010, I will start a new challenge. I wish all members of the BMW Sauber team the best. I am sure I will see them again in F1 in the future. »

In 55 Grands Prix, Robert Kubica was on the podium eight times and scored 129 points.

The team that will succeed BMW Sauber F1 will announce its drivers at a later date.
