Bottas would have preferred to have Hamilton's aero package

Valtteri Bottas was unable to compete for pole at the Malaysian GP. The Finn who had a new aero package unlike his teammate Lewis Hamilton was not satisfied with the results obtained, ranking seven tenths behind the pole signed by the Briton and starting behind the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo.

“It’s a complicated weekend for us because we are quite behind, admitted Valtteri Bottas. We have progressed compared to the day before, but it is still not enough for me. Lewis and I had completely different cars in terms of aero packages for qualifying. It seems to have worked for him but not for me. »

Valtteri Bottas can notably rely on the risk of rain to make the difference and move up the rankings.

“Qualifying didn't go too bad until the second session, but everyone was able to progress in Q3 and that wasn't the case for me. It's still too early to know why. I am very disappointed with his qualifications, but it will be different tomorrow. It will remain complicated because our performances on the long relays have not been fantastic so far”, added the Finn.

Valtteri Bottas remains on a fifth place obtained during the last edition of the Malaysian GP where he started 11th when he was still defending the interests of Williams.
