Bottas 'disappointed' by his lack of victory in 2018

Si Valtteri Bottas managed to achieve 3 victories last year for his first season with Mercedes, the Finn is in more difficulty this year since he has not won a single Grand Prix. The former resident of Williams despite everything managed to finish in second place 5 times, but success still denied him.

“I'm quite disappointed and surprised not to have won a race yet this year. I really want to assert myself, that’s why I’m here”, he admitted.

Valtteri Bottas finds himself in a delicate situation since he now has to play into the hands of his teammate Lewis Hamilton in search of the title as was the case at the Italian GP.

“I am sure I have my chances if I have good pace, good qualifications and perform well in the race, added the Mercedes driver, but it will obviously be simpler if Lewis secures the coronation. I don't want to think about that too much. I hope I get the results I deserve as long as I perform well. »

But Lewis Hamilton is not the only opponent of Valtteri Bottas, the Ferrari also being in the fight for victory as proven by the 5 victories won by Sebastian Vettel in 2018.

“They have a little more power and a little more top speed, but the difference in performance is minimal in the corners. It mainly depends on which team manages the tires better. We had blistering at Spa and it was Ferrari who suffered from it at Monza. The results of the next races will depend a lot on the developments that will be made”, said the Finn.

Valtteri Bottas is in 4th place in the Championship, 2 points behind Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) but is 87 points behind Lewis Hamilton with 7 Grands Prix remaining at the end of the season.
