Bottas on pole ahead of Hamilton at the Nürburgring, Leclerc 4th

Valtteri Bottas continues its current good momentum. Winner in Russia 2 weeks ago, the Finn took pole position for the Eifel Grand Prix, his 3rd this season, the 14th of his career.

At the end of a final attempt controlled from start to finish, with 3 best sectors up for grabs, Bottas set a time of 1'25''269, which places him 0''256 ahead of his teammate Mercedes and current leader of the world championship Lewis Hamilton

The two W11s are closely followed by the Red Bull of the inevitable Max Verstappen. The Dutch virtuoso falls just 37 thousandths behind Hamilton for what is his best qualifying performance of the season.

Behind the leading trio, a great performance also for Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque manages to hoist his Ferrari SF1000, which received some updates this weekend in Germany, in 4th position.

Aboard the second Honda-powered RB16, Alexander albon signs the 5th time, ahead of the Renault de Daniel Ricciardo et Esteban OconLando Norris (McLaren), Sergio Pérez (Racing Point), and Carlos Sainz (McLaren) complete the Top 10.

For his home appointment, Sebastian Vettel fails at the gates of Q3. For the 8th meeting in a row, the German suffered the law of his teammate Leclerc in qualifying.

The four-time world champion is ahead of the duo Alpha Tauri compound Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat. Followed by Antonio Giovinazzi, who leaves Q1 for the first time this year with his Alfa Romeo, and Kevin Magnussen, author of an honorable performance with the Haas

His sidekick Romain Grosjean moves to 2 hundredths of a place in Q2 but the French driver has to settle for 16th fastest time, ahead of the two drivers Williams George Russell and Nicholas latifi

As he prepares to seize Rubens Barrichello's record for Grand Prix starts, Kimi Räikkönen will start only 19th aboard his Alfa Romeo.

No miracle for Nico Hulkenberg aboard the Racing Point. Thrown into the deep end barely an hour before the start of qualifying, the German, who replaced at short notice a Lance stroll suffering this weekend, certainly finished 20th and last but fell within 4 tenths of an access to Q2.
