Bottas still has his chances in Monaco

Valtteri Bottas almost placed himself on the front row on the grid of the Monaco GP, but the driver Mercedes failed by 2 thousandths against Sebastian Vettel. The Finn suffered like his teammate Lewis Hamilton only 13th due to a lack of grip on the street circuit and had to bow to the Ferrari.

“This weekend was difficult for us, concedes Valtteri Bottas. We started well in FP1 before getting lost in the settings in FP2. It was subsequently difficult to achieve a good time in qualifying. We need 2 or 3 laps to warm up the tires and find the right balance on the car."

“It was very close with the Ferraris, but they seem to have the advantage here because they performed very well this afternoon, admits Valtteri Bottas. It would obviously be good to start on the front row, but everything is still possible from 3rd position. It's hard to overtake here but it's also a race for opportunities. Anything can happen in Monaco. »

Toto wolff, the executive president of Mercedes Motorsport, was even impressed by Valtteri Bottas' result given the potential of the W08s this weekend in Monaco.

“This result didn't seem possible for most of the session, but he really had a fantastic lap in Q3 and missed the front row by just a few thousandths. Ferrari is in control for tomorrow, but we will be in the hunt”, warns Toto Wolff.

The start of the Monaco Grand Prix will be contested this Sunday from 14 p.m. and will be to follow exceptionally in live streaming on our website.
