Bottas frustrated by his delay on Vettel

Valtteri Bottas only took 3rd position on the grid for the Chinese GP. The pilot Mercedes failed by a thousandth of the Ferrari SF70H Sebastian Vettel at the end of his second attempt in Q3, while his teammate Lewis Hamilton won pole by setting the new lap record on the Shanghai International Circuit.

This is the second time that Valtteri Bottas has failed a few centimeters from Sebastian Vettel after failing 25 thousandths behind the Ferrari driver at the Australian GP.

“A thousandth isn’t much on a lap, recognized Valtteri Bottas. It’s unfortunate, but the race is tomorrow and we start 1st and 3rd. It’s a good place to start and the weather can play a role. Lewis and Ferrari were very strong today. We expected a close fight on the track and I think it will be the same tomorrow. »

Bottas more confident

Valtteri Bottas looks more comfortable heading into his second start with Mercedes after taking the podium in Melbourne.

“My approach is different compared to Melbourne, said Valtteri Bottas. It was a great start to the season, playing a full weekend ending with a podium. I'm really more comfortable now. I'm still learning and I feel better with each lap I do with the car."
