Bottas scores his first points

Starting from ninth place on the starting grid, Bottas succeeded in “ run a perfect race » to finish in eighth position.

The Finn even pulled off a very nice maneuver on Esteban Gutiérrez in the sequence of turns two, three and four.

“I am very happy for the team to finally score points. Our strategy was good, we had a good start, and the pit stops went well, Bottas said. We were finally able to show our peak speed, which is good. We had new exhausts and that made a difference. »

Valtteri Bottas' result contrasts with that of his teammate Pastor Maldonado. The Venezuelan came into contact with Adrian Sutil on the first lap before having to change front wing. He finished seventeenth.

« It's a disappointing race. Sutil crossed my path but these are things that happen when we have to make up places. With our front wing change we modified our strategy and the last ten laps were difficult. I hope it goes better next week,” concluded the winner of the 2012 Barcelona Grand Prix.

Thanks to his eighth place, Bottas scores four points and finds himself just ahead of Pastor Maldonado in the general classification. With five units Williams is now almost assured of finishing in ninth position in the constructor's championship.
