Bottas leads Giovinazzi at Barcelona testing

After Romain Grosjean (Haas) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) on Tuesday, it is the turn of Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) to stand out at the forefront of the private tests in Barcelona (Spain). The Finn set the best time of the morning on Wednesday with a time of 1'16''904 on super soft tyres.

Aboard the Sauber on Tuesday, 2 GP2016 Series runner-up Antonio Giovinazzi quickly got used to the environment of the Team Ferrari as he finished the session in second place, just 68 thousandths behind the Silver Arrow. The Italian even took the lead of the peloton 20 minutes before the lunch break thanks to a set of super soft tires.

Danish Kevin Magnussen (Haas) completes the top three at a respectable distance (+1''370). The champion of Formula 3 European 2017 Lando Norris place McLaren in fourth place (+1''923), ahead of debutant Jack Aitken (Renault, +2''028). The South Korean had never driven a Formula 1 in tests until now, just like Jake Dennis, 10th with the Red Bull (1'20''684).

After his participation in Friday's free practice at the Spanish Grand Prix, Robert Kubica (Williams) was inserted in seventh place, between Charles Leclerc (Sauber) and Nikita mazepin (Force India), with a time of 1'19''253.

Testing will continue Wednesday afternoon.
