Bottas: “Everything remains possible”

Valtteri Bottas could have had his chances of victory at the Abu Dhabi GP but the Finn will certainly have difficulty claiming the best place in the race. Despite his 2nd fastest time behind his teammate Lewis Hamilton, the pilot Mercedes will start from last place following a penalty for changing the Power Unit.

However, the Finn wants to continue to believe in his chances even though the championships have been played for a long time and the pressure has subsided.

“It was a very solid day, confided Valtteri Bottas. We knew yesterday that we had a good pace. The car behaved well although it slipped a bit during this session. We have evolved a lot since yesterday. I will start in last place anyway, but I plan to keep my fighting spirit to try to aim for the podium. Everything remains possible, we have already seen crazy races this season like the one in Brazil two weeks ago. »

Si Lewis Hamilton ahead of the second Mercedes by almost 2 tenths, the Finn should logically have prioritized his pace in the race.

“My lap was okay, but Lewis was a little too fast and I think we had noticeably different settings at the end of the session. I felt a little more comfortable behind the wheel yesterday.”, he said.

Valtteri Bottas' weekend was further complicated by the deterioration of his state of health.

“I've been sick since Monday night and it gets worse when I travel. But it makes no difference in the car because the adrenaline is sufficiently stimulating. he said.

Valtteri Bottas has only won once in Abu Dhabi, in 2017. The Finn took 5th place last year.
