Bottas: Williams is on an upward slope

Valtteri Bottas produced a superb race at the British Grand Prix to take second place behind Lewis Hamilton, after taking advantage of the abandonment of Nico Rosberg. While he was the only pilot Williams on track following Felipe Massa's accident, the Finn made a magnificent comeback to achieve the best result of his career and climb to fifth place in the Championship ahead of Sebastian Vettel, while the Grove team is closing in on three points behind Ferrari. “We have definitely become a stronger team than in Melbourne. It won't be easy to get the podium in every event. We will tackle the races one after the other, but we are moving in the right direction. I also improve with each start in order to always be more efficient. »

The Williams driver did not expect to achieve another podium starting from 14th place on the grid following Williams' error trapped by rain in Q1. The Scandinavian was nevertheless confident about the potential of his car and secured a good result by gaining no less than five places when the lights went out. “We expected to have a good pace in the race even though we thought that Red Bull would be faster than us with Ferrari in ambush. We knew the race was not going to be easy with our position on the grid. We weren't looking for a podium today, just points. But I got off to a great start and the tire life was unlimited. The team did a really good job with the strategy. »
