Boullier: Honda did not have the same development time

McLaren-Honda came close to scoring points at the Australian GP last weekend in Melbourne, Jenson Button arriving at the finish in 11th and last position. But the MP4-30 lacked performance during this first event and the development potential raises many questions.

Éric Boullier, McLaren Team Principal F1, defended Honda. « Ferrari, Mercedes et Renault started working on their engines three years before testing them. Honda decided to come back in May 2013 and they only had a year and a half. McLaren started a revolution where we had to rebuild everything and, although this is positive, we need time,” declared the Frenchman in El Pais.

The McLaren F1 boss wants to show his confidence for this season. “ It's possible (to see McLaren win in 2015), even if it won't be in three, four or five races. But I am sure we will be competitive. »
