Boullier: “I have nothing to reproach myself for”

Éric Boullier took some time before speaking following his departure from McLaren where he held the position of sports director until last July. The Frenchman finally returned to this difficult period in issue 2205 of AUTOhebdo.

" I have nothing to reproach myself. When I arrived at McLaren, as much as I had certain freedoms to imprint my working method and rebuild a technical team which demanded it, I also inherited certain things signed, promised or committed, with which I had to deal and which did not turn out to be profitable. I put so much time, energy, hope into this challenge, even more when receiving the engine Renault. I really expected it to work.”, recognized the former head of the Woking stable.

“Even though I had nothing to do with the design of the car, I thought I had given enough, the pressure was becoming unbearable. If some did not assume their responsibilities, I assumed mine. My personal life should not suffer from this situation. If anyone can and wants to do better than me, raise their finger! I'm a racer, not a politician. I didn't just make mistakes, even if I had to make some, but I would have tried. Maybe I was too protective…”
